A Few Suggestions

Here are a few suggestions to assist in completing your on-line application.

  1. Using your browser's navigation buttons "Forward" and "Back" may cause unpredictable results. Please use only the navigation buttons which appear at the bottom of each screen.
  2. The application is available in both English and French. We recommend that you select a language at the start of a sitting and stay with it until the end of that sitting. If you change language without saving a screen, you could lose the information you have entered.
  3. Many job opportunities require transcripts, résumés, and/or essays. We suggest you prepare these documents using a word processing application, then cut and paste them onto your application. Keep the format simple and avoid using tabs. Certain web-based special characters such as HTML tags may also cause unpredictable results in your text, or prevent you from successfully applying. Transcript information and essays can take time to assemble, so take note of the closing date for a job opportunity and give yourself time to prepare.
  4. Remember to consult the HELP text for individual screens when you are unsure what information to provide or how to present it.
  5. If several job opportunities close at the same time, the volume of users can be very high and this may result in a slower response time. We encourage you to complete your application as early as possible, to avoid a last minute rush near the deadline.
  6. Please note your PSRS Applicant Number and password: you will need this every time you login or apply for a position.
  7. The system will automatically disconnect you after 60 minutes, if there is no activity. Typing information onto a screen will not prevent you from disconnecting - you must save or send to maintain your connection. You will have to login again when you resume work.

Closing Date

Except for specific situations such as year-round inventories, all job advertisements have a closing date. On-line applications must be received on-line by the closing date indicated on the advertisement.

Closing Time

The western-most Canadian time zone is used to determine the closing time for the receipt of applications (i.e. 23:59 Pacific Time). This time zone was chosen to ensure that all applicants who reside or are employed in the area of selection mentioned in the "WHO CAN APPLY" section of the job poster have until the last minute of the closing date to submit their application, regardless of where they happen to be on that date.

Contact your nearest PSC Office if you require assistance completing your application form.
