Overview of the Application Process

PSRS job opportunities may be accessed in the following ways:

  • view job postings
  • use the Match Profile to Job to Job function on PSRS, to display job opportunities that match the qualifications and preferences in your profile
  • Choose current opportunities

All of the above access points will bring you to the same job poster, and you will be asked to login to PSRS to apply. If you have not already established an account with PSRS, please follow the instructions on the Login to Your File page to do so.

  1. Once you have logged in to your file, on the screen My Jobs Menu, click on the Create/Maintain Profile link to create a profile. This profile, when complete, will contain personal information as well as data on a variety of areas such as education, language, salary requirements and work location preferences. You may modify your profile at any time.
  2. When your profile is complete, click on the Match Profile to Job link at the bottom of the screen. The system will identify current job opportunities that match the qualifications and preferences provided in your profile.
  3. Review the job opportunity(ies) identified to see if your interests / qualifications are reflected. If you wish to apply, complete all the requirements listed for the job opportunity, and then click on Submit Application.
  4. Visit My Jobs File regularly as the system will not automatically notify you of new job opportunities. Each time, use the Create/Maintain Profile link and then Match Profile to Job to check for any new job opportunities.

Important notes to users of the Public Service Resourcing System (PSRS):

  • When you Login for the first time, you will obtain a system-generated Applicant Number (for example: S987654). It is important to record both the Applicant Number and your password for future use. You will be required to provide these whenever you access your file.
  • All information must be provided on-line. Please do not fax or mail in hard copy documents. These documents will not be accepted.
  • You can stop the application process at any time. Simply click on Save and then Logout.
  • The system will automatically disconnect you after 60 minutes if no activity. Typing information onto a screen will not prevent you from disconnecting - you must save or send. To résumé work, click on My Jobs, and login by providing your Applicant Number and password.
  • You must submit your application by the closing date and time, as specified on the job opportunity. Failure to do so will result in your application not being accepted. The westernmost Canadian time zone is used to determine the closing time for the receipt of applications (i.e. 23:59 Pacific Time).
  • When it is past the deadline for a job opportunity, information provided by you up to that point will be used for screening and referral. Missing or incomplete information will result in your application being screened out.
  • To manage your file, it is recommended that you delete all posters that are not of interest to you.
